Burkenomics: Valentine's Day

I think it's becoming a tradition to buy the $7 heart-shaped pizza and $2.50 cheesy bread from Papa Murphy's for our VDay dinner. We're high rollers. There was also coleslaw and amaaaazing baked beans from Jack Stack that were leftovers from my husband's work meeting lunch. Yes, leftovers on VDay. Ha!

I was too lazy to find a cute outfit, so I look this classy picture of J in a red diaper.

Enjoying our Sonic shakes at Costco before getting our groceries...the height of romance...

Look at all the stuff we got! *Ahem* let me clarify...look at all the stuff we got the day after VDay! It is a law of Burkenomics that you do not pay full price today for what you can get half off tomorrow. So I took J to Target the morning of the 15th to pick out the best of what was left. J's present turned out really well. I had purchased the Rock with Mickey guitar/book a while ago (notice the Target clearance sticker at the top of the book...I stock up on clearance toys in advance) and meant to give it to him for Christmas. I forgot to wrap it and give it to him, and it has just been sitting in his room collecting dust. And then I went to Target, and what was the only children's box of chocolates left? Mickey. So that worked out to be a nice coordinated present that wasn't actually coordinated. My husband got Ghirardelli chocolates, Lindt white chocolate ball things, and two bags of sweets to take to work. I got Hershey truffles and candy bars. Not pictured is a VDay-themed bag of peanut M&Ms that I bought for the next movie we go see and two cans of pink vanilla frosting that are for the next time we bake sweets and need frosting. (I don't care that the frosting is pink, I care that it cost 66% less than the regular white vanilla cans. Lol.)

Speaking of Laws of Burkenomics, my sweet husband bought me the house charm for my Pandora bracelet as my present (and partly to celebrate refinancing to a 15-year mortgage). I returned it because I found out Pandora is having a promotion where you get a free bracelet with $100 purchase in March, so I'm rebuying it then with a few other things and selling the bracelet on Ebay to get some money back. It's sort of like a 40% sale once you sell your free bracelet. Yes, I realize how pathetic I sound, and no, I don't care because I try to get the most out of every dollar my husband makes. Lol.
