Here are little tidbits about J:
- One of my favorite things right now is teaching him animals sounds and movements. He can do elephants, monkeys, penguins, fish, anything that roars, giraffes, bats/birds, and bees.
- He loves to copy hand gestures/any body movements that we do. That's part of why his favorite book is Caps for Sale- he can shake his finger and fist at the monkeys and stomp his feet. (He can even do the "tsz tsz tsz" part.) Sometimes he does funny stuff, like when my husband told J he had to go back to work and J shook his finger at him. Then I was nagging at my husband about something, my husband did the "mouth talking" hand motion, and J saw it and started doing it to me too.
- He is still doing one nap a day. He takes it after lunch.
- He is sleeping so well at night. His routine is to take a bath, brush his teeth, get on a diaper and pajamas, find Teddy and his blanket (he usually wakes up and brings those into our room in the morning), read three stories, get tucked in and lights turned out.
- Speaking of diapers, we started using disposables at night :( Cloth just can't soak up all that toddler pee at night.
- He can "count." And by count, I mean if we ask him to count something, he knows to point to each object as we count for him. If we ask him to count his fingers, he looks down at his hands and wiggles his fingers
- I'm trying to let him do more "chores." He cleans the table top, dusts, hands me things out of the dishwasher to put away, hands me clothes from the hamper to put in the washing machine, helps put clothes in the dryer, hands me clothes from the basket to put in the dresser, throws things away for us, sometimes puts up toys, and tries to sweep.
He's kind of obsessed with the Swiffer duster. Sometimes he dusts and then rubs the duster on his head :-/
- He doesn't care when I leave the house anymore. Kind of makes me sad. He used to scream and cry if I so much as walked out of the room, but now all I get is a wave (if I'm lucky) as I head out the door to work or school.
- Still working on getting dressed. He can balance on one foot and shove his other foot into a shoe, then balance on the other foot to get the second shoe on. He tries to put on pants but usually gets both legs in one pant leg. He tries so hard to put on shirts, but none of them have a big enough head opening to let him do it on his own.
First time getting his shoes on himself! They are one the wrong feet, but who cares :)
Baby Girl
- We have a name picked out, but we're not 100% sure on it yet.
- She is almost 17 inches and almost 4 pounds according to Baby Center. I haven't quite hit the "beached whale" stage of pregnancy yet, but I'm starting to get pretty miserable. My husband is being so awesome about this. He goes to work, comes home, makes dinner, cleans up, and puts J to bed so I can sit down and relax. He also does a lot on the weekends to help out.
- Fun "mommy brain" moment- I got out of the car in the Costco parking lot and had a moment of panic because I thought I had forgotten to put a shirt on under my coat.
- Her room still is a mess. The walls are still an ugly gray with orange accent wall. No furniture is set up. The closet looks like it vomited clothes all over the floor because I haven't washed her clothes and put them in her dresser and closet yet. BUT we are waiting until her 3D sonogram to paint, just to make totally sure it's a girl. I mean, how upset would you be if you went through all the work and money to paint a room pink and then your wife popped out a boy? Ha!
