Mika is so happy and is always smiling and trying to laugh. Someone told me that you only get one easy baby, but I guess we hit the jackpot with two. She is currently in 3- and 6-month clothes. And the 3-month outfits are getting tight. I look at her and marvel at how fat she is. Her fat rolls have fat rolls. It takes both of us to really bathe her well, one person to do the washcloth and the other person to pry apart her fat rolls. I also get lots of comments on her hair. Some people say it looks like she's wearing a wig.
She sleeps so well at night. She goes to bed between 10 and 11 and will usually sleep until 5 before she wakes up to eat and get a diaper change. And lately she's been going back to sleep after that and getting up around 9. She takes random short naps in the morning and then takes a loooong afternoon nap when Jackson does, usually from 1-5 or 6. So I can take a nap if I want to or I can get housework done. I usually take the nap option.
Housework or cuddling and sleeping with this happy baby? Let me think about that for about one second...
I'm getting back into Jackson's old schedule again. I used to take him out for "field trips" every morning to the library, the arboretum, open play at a community center, the children's farmstead, the farmers market, etc. Obviously that stopped after giving birth, but for the past month I've been trying hard to get out of the house every day so Jackson's not sitting around watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse all morning.
"Hmm, where should I put the remotes? The washing machine. Great idea."
He alternates between being really awesome with having a new baby in the house to being really not awesome with having a baby in the house. Sometimes he is great and will play with her and love on her. Sometimes he gets really clingy and I can't hold him because I'm holding Mika, so that ends up in a tantrum. But I try to give him lots of attention and I know he loves having a sibling.
